Education and Monastic Life:
He passed successfully primary and monastic education (learnt dhamma and vinay). He got ordination (novice, Samanera), name was Sri Saramedha Samanera in 1813. He went to Akiab in Burma and received Higher Ordination (Upasampada) then returned to Bangladesh with his Master Venerable Saralongkar Mahathero. Both of them went to Burma again in 1826. They were very sincere to the monastic life, followed sincerely Theravada Dhamma and Vinaya. So, Burmese dhamma devotees offer them a new monastry (Bihar) namely “Sarlongkar Monastery”. His master Ven. Saralongkar passed away in 1836 the he appointed as a lord abbot, at that time he was 35 years old and monastic life 15 years.
He attended the 5th Buddhist Council, after the 2nd world war Burma organized 5th Buddhist Council (Samgayana). It took place in Mandalay, Burma in 1871 under the patrons of King Mindon of Burma. The chief objective of this council was to recite all the teachings of the Gautama Buddha according to the Pali Canon of Theravada Buddhism.
Receive Award: He received most rare honors from British Government for the field of social work Monarchical Honors “Saramedhalongkaraviti Shasandhar Mahadhammadhiraj Guru” in 1846, during received this honors he was 45 years old and monastic life 25 years (Vassa).
Passed Away: His Holiness Sangharaj Most Ven. Saramedha Mahathero passed away in 1882, 81 years old and monastic life 61 years (Vassa).
